Pigmentation/pigmented lesions are a source of concern for some people – both male and female.
What is Pigmentation?
Pigmentation marks are a build up of melanocytes (cells containing melanin) under the skin.

How does the treatment work?
We use an Superior IPL system which breaks down the build up of these melanocytes. The light that is emitted from the Superior IPL is attracted to the melanin in the cells. These cells heat up and are destroyed.
How is the treatment carried out?
The skin is cleansed. A cold gel is applied to the area. The handpiece is placed and a shot pulse of light is released. This is repeated in the neighbouring area until the entire pigmented area is treated. The gel is removed and the skin is cooled down.
Am I suitable for the treatment?
The ideal candidate has pale skin. You must not expose the area to the sun 30 days prior to treatment or for the duration of the treatment.
How does the treatment feel?
Everyone describes the treatment differently. You will feel a heat sensation on the area but it is felt for an instant.
Do I need to take special precautions before and after treatment?
The most important factor to remember is to avoid sun exposure one month before treatment, one month after your last treatment and for the duration of your treatments in between. It is recommended to use a sun protection factor 30.
What should I expect after the treatment?
Redness and a slight warming sensation are normal after the treatment. The skin will be cooled after the treatment to ease these symptoms. You may see a darkening of the pigmented areas a few days after the treatment. This again is normal. They will disappear leading to a more even skin tone.
How many treatments are necessary?
4-6 treatments are recommended every 4 weeks. Maintenance treatments can be performed if necessary.
